About
Welcome to the world of Ghoulia Peculiar, where mythology, dreams, and nature intertwine and where imagination comes to life!

Mission
For over 20 years, I've explored the transformative experience of theatre, costume, and performance. I believe costume has the power to alter more than just the exterior, and reveal more than it disguises. Various roles have enriched my passion for the art of storytelling - including working as an illustrator, set designer, props maker, performer, stylist, make up artist, and events manager. I've always been captivated by stories—the ones we share with each other and the narratives we create within ourselves. These personal tales shape our identities and influence our journeys, allowing us to connect, reflect, and grow.
A Meandering Path
Since childhood I've been fascinated by mythology, psychology, dreams, nature, history, and symbols. Everything I make is really a product of my daydreaming about these ideas. My mother is a multidisciplinary artist and it was she who taught me first how to draw, then how to sculpt and sew. After graduating with a Graphic Design degree, I ventured into illustration commissions, but my curiosity led me to run a magical stall in Camden Market. There, I crafted a unique collection of aromatherapy and meditation kits, complete with handmade info scrolls and freshly blended essential oils. The idea was to help people connect with their inner narrative and access the illuminating power of their imagination. Each kit was thoughtfully curated to engage all the senses, providing a fully immersive experience...

... Continuing to explore the themes of daydreaming and theatre, I began crafting unique headpieces and masks for myself and friends. Each piece was heavily symbolic, drawing inspiration from mythology and dreams. These experiments blossomed into a collection of pieces for sale, inviting others to experience the magic of performance art through these wearable creations. By 2008 I had started selling my work online, at markets and clubs, and in shops, and since then I've worked on everything from small independent theatre projects to big budget Hollywood productions.
The Studio
Most of the time I work from my studio in London, creating custom made pieces for film, theatre, TV, art installations, editorials, and private commissions for individuals, occasionally venturing out of my own space to work in prop studios or on sets. After a five-year period of reduced productivity whilst I've been raising my goblin child, I'm excited to return to my studio, bringing fresh ideas to life. My meandering path continues to lead me on new and unexpected adventures, including revisiting my illustration origins with some handpainted items. I like to top up my skills by attending all kinds of art courses and I experiment a lot to teach myself new techniques and materials. While my original designs will still be available, stay tuned for new creations coming soon...

About You
My customers are a diverse bunch and it brings me joy to know that my creations have been worn and loved by so many people from trapeze artists to couples getting married, High Priestesses performing ceremonies, to dancers, actors, and models playing roles, to cosplayers, LARPers, and fetishists exploring their fantasy worlds. The idea that I can pull something out of my imagination and another person can get as much of a kick from it as I do, makes me really happy.
